More Girls!
The Book has been neglected over the past day or two. The reason is because my new Derwent Inktense crayons arrived. I bought my original set back in 2005 but my daughter has given them a good thrashing so my last Squidoo paycheck has been squandered on art materials (no, not possible to waste money on art materials) including this boxed set of 72 Inktense. Gorgeous. Mostly. I am a teeny bit disappointed in the range of colors. I would have expected a few light colors, such as pink, cream and lavender but the range is geared more towards landscape colors. There are lots of greens, blues, reds and browns but definitely a serious lack of lighter hues. It may be something to do with the fact that the pigments are ink, not watercolor but there is a white, so there ought to be some paler colors. Never mind, they are outrageously intense and I can supplement them with my other watercolor crayons.
Sooo… more girls.
They will probably appear in ‘the book’ in due course. The last one, the girl with orange hair is slightly different to the others; she was completed in graphite first and then coated with clear gesso. The gesso ‘grabs’ the crayon pigment and gives an interesting texture. You also get this sort of grungy look, which I like a lot.
